Modeling Flow Patterns in Tigris River – Baghdad Using the CCHE2D model

Abstract In this study, the CCHE2D model was used to analyze flow patterns in Tigris River Baghdad city around a water treatment plant. To end, calibrated and validated steady-state using relevant boundary conditions. The initial surface level at Sarai station for three discharges of 289, 530, 870 m 3 /s. Hence, appropriate manning roughness modulus equivalent mixing length turbulent models were selected construct hydraulic River. Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), coefficient determination (R 2 ) equations. Results show that RMSE, MAE, R between observed modelled levels (0.17, 0.12, 0.9) respectively during validation. It found average velocity studied intake 0.4 0.8 m/s while 29 30 m. proved its capability simulate behavior This study could be use further analysis on performance provide better insights towards management river.
